Welcome to the DHS School Counseling Office

The mission of the DHS School Counseling department is to provide all students with a comprehensive school counseling program. Our goal is to promote personal/social growth, academic achievement and career/college readiness for 21st century learners. In partnership with parents, teachers, administration, and community, the school counselor provides support for student growth and advocates for equity, access and success for every student.


Upcoming Events:

9/27/17
:  Dead line to sign up for PSATS. The cost is $20 and students can sign-up in the School Counseling Office. PSATs will be on Wednesday, October 11. See the attached memo for more details: PSAT MEMO TO JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES 05.doc

10/2/17 & 10/3/17
: UNH will be hosting the NEACAC College Fair on Monday, October 2nd, from 6:00-8:00 pm and Tuesday, October 3rd, from 9-11am.  Over 300 college admissions representatives will be on hand representing their schools.  The event will be held in the Lundholm Gymnasium, Field House. 10/3/17
: The School Counseling Department will be hosting a ‘College 101 Presentation’ for parents/guardians of seniors on October 3rd at  6:30 pm in the Frederick C. Walker Auditorium.  This presentation will go over the nuts and bolts of the college application process and will be the same presentation given to seniors during the week  9/25/17.

: PSATs 7:40-12:00pm (deadline to sign-up 9/27/17)

10/17/17
: Financial Aid Night for seniors and their parents/guardians will be on October 17 at 6:30 in the Frederick C. Walker Auditorium.  A financial aid representative will review the ins and outs of the financial aid process.  This event is for Seniors and their parents/guardians.

10/18/17
: ASVAB Test (military entrance exam) sign-up in the Counseling Office with Ms. Lagrua

10/31/17 & 11/1/17:
A second financial aid event will be a fun & interactive presentation by New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) for seniors during the school day on Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st.  There will be a presentation once every block for Seniors in the Frederick C. Walker Auditorium over the course of the two days.  Seniors must sign up in the School Counseling Office to attend one of the presentations and sign-ups will be in October.
